Pasadera Residence
Formerly the Laguna Seca Horse Ranch, the oak studded rolling pastures of Pasadera Country Club are the perfect location for this authentic Tuscan Country Villa. Working with her clients for over a year in the planning, design and specification process, Jana Caron helped to facilitate the clients’ goals to capture the flavor of the Tuscan hill countryside and historical villas. Careful consideration was taken to specify old world style materials and finishes with modern longevity and durability in order to enable a hospitable lifestyle for the homeowners. For example, mosaic tiles are a good example of a historic product that is currently fabricated in a wide assortment of stone, tile, and glass materials. The clients also desired that each person’s room exemplify their individual personality but remain cohesive with the central design theme.
The interiors were designed with a large family and entertaining in mind. The finest finishes were combined with modern day conveniences that an active lifestyle demands. The guest suite off of the centrally located patio offers both privacy and tranquility as an intricate part of the living quarters. The finish materials chosen, such as Jerusalem stone and walnut flooring, speak well of the clients, as they are both warm and inviting in their environment.
The clients were able to build upon their wonderful assortment of French and Italian Country furnishings, as well as heirloom art work. They are large proponents of enjoying and sharing the pleasures and gifts of life which has so enriched them.

Gabilan Gardens Model Homes
Gabilan Gardens is a gated planned community in Soledad, California. It is comprised of 61 detached homes on small lots in a close–knit neighborhood setting that includes a private park. There are four distinct floor plans with traditional Cape Cod and craftsman styling clustered around courtyards or front porches. These homes were designed for an entry level price point for Monterey County.
The concept for the model homes was unique in that the client, Woodman Development, wanted the models designed so that prospective buyers would have the ability to purchase accessible interior furnishings and accessories. With that as a goal, purchases were made at mostly local retail outlets, such as Mums, Marshalls, Target, Sears, Pier One, IKEA, etc.
Another unique aspect of the project is that each of the units had its own personality, and design style or theme instead of each unit being very similar to the next, is as commonly done in the Model Homes. These themes were: 1) Young Professionals; Contemporary design 2) Family with Teens; Traditional w/ Island style influence 3) Empty Nesters; African & Asian style influence & 4) Family with Children; Cottage style
The Design Team developed the themes which included the interior and the back yard spaces for each of the models, specified the finishes, and concluded with furniture/accessory acquisitions and installations for each of the models.
As you can see in the photos, even while using modestly priced finishes and furnishings, a person is able to create a fresh and intriguing individual design for their home.

Pebble Beach Residence
Designer Jana Caron was commissioned to give this Pebble Beach estate’s master bedroom suite a completely new identity. The client chose classic French designs, which gave opportunity to develop the master suite into a private step back into the history of a Louis XVI theme. The Designer’s vision came alive upon visiting the project site which overlooks the Monterey Bay, its blue ocean waters and luscious evergreen Pebble Beach forest skyline.
The room’s foot print, crown mold and existing windows were the only things that did not change in the remodel. The work began with new wide-plank pecan flooring and baseboard, as well as knotty alder French doors, to match other parts of the home.
All the remaining features were to be developed by the Designer’s first impression.
Features include: recessed and decorative lighting, plasma screen TV complete with a hand painted and cut Venetian mirror frame, new limestone fireplace surround, and paint prep on the worn walls. The designer commissioned The French Touch to bring drama into the wall surfaces by creating a depth of color and shimmer of gold and silver, like natural minerals reminiscent of the ocean’s sunlit surface. The exiting crown mold was completely repainted by hand using custom stenciling adding yet another intricate design feature. The interior palette of the room dictated that the alder wood base board and French doors be also faux painted to collaborate with the rich and soft palette of colors.
Fine French style furniture, such as the Roman pedestal cast stone table and marble top flanked by the Piedmontese style armchairs as well the Newport Historic Collections in Louis XVI style were specified. Exquisite fabrics, such as the Christopher Hyland creations, were specified for upholstery, draperies and accessories. A hand knotted Napalese wool & silk custom rug gave the space more subtle elegance and warmth to complete the look of the French historical past.

Corral de Tierra Residence Remodel
The project scope on this 30-year-old ranch style residence was to update all the interior areas and give it a fresh new look.
As the project manager, Jana Caron specified and directed the contractor to replace all the existing windows and doors, add a new skylight as well completely refurbish the kitchen area, update all the interior & exterior lighting, integrate new wall and flooring finishes into all the appropriate living spaces as well include new interior doors and hardware throughout. The living room's fireplace surround and hearth was resurfaced with natural stone tiles, a new wood mantle, and stucco integrated with color above to give it a more interesting and beautiful façade. The master bath was redone with new cabinetry and new tile counters and floors to match the existing shower wall tile. In the living room and the master bedroom, new Stickley furnishings were perfect companions along side the clients' original and custom wood furniture pieces. Colorful upholstery pieces were also selected to complement the richness of the variety of wood pieces in the rooms.
The exterior also required some attention. A completely new exposed aggregate driveway and colored entry walkway was incorporated, as well as adding new garage doors that replaced the original heavy wood doors. The residence has taken on a new and fresh look, while maintaining a very comfortable quality, which is uniquely the clients' true lifestyle.

Bay Ridge Residence
With such magnificent views to capture, this new residential kitchen was very exciting to design. Standing at the sink area, one has the privilege to indulge in the lovely Monterey County northerly views through a bow-front window surround. Stainless steel fixtures and cherry cabinets are a rich compliment to the earth tone flowing granite counters and backsplash.
The goal was to design a kitchen that was easily used by one person as well entertaining guests and family in the same space. A seating bar area at the south end of the space allows guest to take in all the activity of the chef as well enjoy the long views. This kitchen will undoubtedly be the hub of activity and enjoyment for all the fortunate people who spend time here.

D’Arrigo Bros. Company
In the early 1900’s the Sicilian D’Arrigo brothers, Andrew and Stephen, migrated to the United States. After brief employment with their grape juice farming cousin, they developed their own produce company in 1923. Today D’Arrigo Bros. Company farms more than 33,000 acres of approximately 13 different types of crops including tree fruit, grapes, and cactus; pears and pads (nopales). Over the course of recent years, new campus facility plans were developed by Belli Architectural Group which included a cooler building, trucker’s lounge, packing building, dry storage building, receiving office and a corporate office building. D’Arrigo Bros. Company contracted Jana Caron Design to complete the interiors of the 30,000 SF cooperate offices. The interior designer’s first challenge was to convince the client to not only embrace the Old California architectural style but to also embellish it. Once convinced, elements such as rustic beam timbers and casework, smoothly coated plaster walls, hand forged iron lighting and Spanish tile patterns throughout completed the Old California style within. Another challenge was to develop a more human scale within the multiple vast interior spaces. The designer accomplished this by incorporating interior arches and niches in the lobby and long hallways. Strategic location of lighting fixtures emphases the arched transitions and barrel vaulted ceilings throughout. With the addition to photos and art work including family history, family ranches and farms, the interior walls give ample opportunity to view the rich agricultural valley and lands.

JRC Hangar in Monterey CA
The Monterey Jet Center is the inspiration of a group of dedicated pilots and aircraft owners who recognized the need for an FBO that would provide visitors and residents with the level of distinctive service they expected from the Monterey Peninsula.
On the west side of the Jet Center, four additional buildings; 2 story concrete tilt up structures, were developed by Panattoni Development Co. These buildings gave opportunity for private ownership for future development of executive offices, suites, and jet hangars.
Upon reviewing a recently completed hangar facility designed by Jana Caron Design and Ausonio, Inc., the owner representative of JRC Hangar contacted Jana Caron in regards to their new project. Excited over a second hangar project opportunity, Jana Caron immediately contacted Ausonio, Inc.
The client’s desire was to develop contemporary style executive offices complete with reception, private offices, conference area, kitchen, lounge, multiple restrooms, and private suites. The hangar area was designed to be spacious as well easily maintained for frequent occupancy of private jets and automobiles.
Based upon the client’s specific needs, Jana Caron developed a floor plan for their corporate needs. Once the design concept and layout was solidified, the designer specified interior finishes, cabinets, appliances, fixtures, lighting, suite and office furnishings, as well accessories for the client. Throughout the design-build process, consistent and open communication with owner representative and the Ausonio, Inc. team was a vital ingredient attributing to the success of the project.

Pacific Valley Bank
Ausonio, Inc. collaborated with Jana Caron Design to remodel and develop an existing space at 422 South Main Street in Salinas into a new and second branch location for Pacific Valley Bank in 2006. This would be the second development for the design team, as the opening branch was completed on Rossi Circle in Salinas in 2005. The new space offered a grand entry from the rear parking lot area with existing slate floors and bridge across the opening for signage opportunities. The bank color theme worked exceptionally well in the new space, as the trademark earthy agricultural tones were implemented and decorative lighting was developed as part of the theme.
The Designer laid out the space planning according to the public and business needs, and finishes were specified and implemented. Key areas for decorative lighting opportunities were selected and specified. New teller-line and spatial divisions as half walls in laminate and solid surface materials were designed within the new space, and specified and installed. Local landscape art by Photographer Vector Point was used as a bold focal point. Jana Caron worked in collaboration with PBI in Salinas for the office furniture and seating, selecting size, style and finishes for the offices. Window treatments are a combination of hard and soft treatments, as the Designer coordinated the fabrics, finishes and style. Accessories were a final touch to the new space as the community enjoyed the excitement for growth and prosperity in the local bank.

Coast-Tel Federal Credit Union
The Former Harvey’s Mens Clothing Store on Main Street in Salinas was the prospective site for the thriving Coast Tel Credit Union in Salinas. The Design team for the project was Ausonio, Inc. and Jana Caron Design. The Credit Union was looking to improve upon its image and yet continue with the reputation of a local, hands-on and personal Credit Union. Jana Caron was commissioned to design the interior spaces and the exterior facades of the front and rear of the building. The existing long interior rectangular space gave opportunity for a design layout with the circulation through the space, front to back, with teller-line on one side and private offices, break-room, restrooms, workroom and conference areas on another.
Jana Caron developed a theme to soften and give interest as a person walks through the space by using a series of curving shapes in a series of ceiling soffits and floor material patterns. The theme needed to be warm and inviting, and the palette developed accordingly. The existing interior columns were important structural elements to the building, and were developed as a free standing check writing area. The same warm oak veneers installed on the columns were also integrated on the back wall at the teller-line where other structural patterns pre-existed. Both wood veneers and paper were specified to give interest and durability in the design. Private glass-front offices add a spacious feeling, while wood blinds provide necessary privacy when appropriate. The Designer worked in collaboration with PBI to select and specify the necessary office furniture finishes and seating with specified finishes and fabrics. To complete the warm and inviting place of business, Art Work was selected as a collaborative effort in conjunction with the designer, client and Artistic Hang Ups.

Duda/Gene Jackson Farms
Duda is a nationwide agricultural firm which created 10,000 square feet of new office space at its warehouse site. Where forklifts once moved iced crates of celery, new administrative suites have been constructed. The challenge was to transform a cramped and cold building into a warm, hospitable, and functional environment. It was enjoyable to work with all of the personnel of Duda California. The architect, interior designer, and contractor worked as a team to create a successful solution for Duda's new office building.
